Pet ownership in 2021 rose to 70% of US households, and owners spent 11% more on pet food, per American Pet Products Association APPA’s new survey.   • Our typical startup costs range from $30,300 to $828,000 depending on the concept you choose, mobile being the lowest cost franchise model. 
  • Qualified candidates need liquid capital of $150,000 and a minimum net worth of $300,000 for our brick and mortar concepts but may require less for our mobile grooming options.

Customers rely on us as experts. Our franchise owners, with the assistance of our pet nutrition certification program, help educate and guide customers. It’s the kind of one-on-one support that consumers don’t experience when buying online or browsing dozens of aisles in some massive big-box pet retailer.

We’ve been a leader in providing all-natural pet food since the category began to emerge in the 1980s. For many brands, the founding family’s stores were one of their largest volume retailers in the early days. Even today, most of our distributors and vendors only sell to specialty retailers like EarthWise.

We compete on quality and customer relationships

EarthWise trains franchisees and their staffs on every pet product line we carry so they can speak with the confidence of experts whenever customers have questions.

Our traditional stores are smaller than big-box pet retail places — a typical EarthWise franchise is 1,600-2,200 square feet, with our GROOMBAR concepts requiring even less. Within that footprint is a full retail store as well as full grooming and self-wash stations. The smaller size helps nurture our relationships with customers, who come to trust us as their local pet experts. We don’t need enormous amounts of space to have a huge impact on our communities.

We become a hub for all pet needs. EarthWise Pet owners work closely with animal rescue organizations and pet service providers in the community. Word-of-mouth from customers and other pet care providers helps build our brand.
