EarthWise Pet Supply at a glance: Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to open an EarthWise franchise?

Startup costs for a standard franchise location of 1,600-2,200 square feet range from $230,500 to $565,500. We have many financing options and banking relationships you can leverage to reduce your personal investment.

How much can I make?

While we can’t make any guarantee on how much revenue you’ll make, we have included aggregated financial details reported by our franchisees in our annual Franchise Disclosure Document, which is available free to all qualified franchise candidates.

What do I need to qualify as a franchise candidate?

We require franchise candidates to have a minimum liquidity of $100,000 and a net worth of at least $300,000.

Are there any financing options?

Yes. EarthWise has relationships with several lenders that understand the business model and are eager to help qualified candidates finance their franchise. Depending on your credit score and a few other criteria, we can let you know if you are a good candidate for third-party financing.

What makes EarthWise Pet Supply different from other companies?

Customer intimacy and sets us apart. While our franchisees come from all walks of life, one thing we all share in common is our love of pets. We’re committed to improving the lives of pets and their people, and we strive to become the go-to-resource for pets in our communities. While big-box stores struggle to compete with online retailers like Amazon, we have been thriving and growing.

What territories are available?

We have availability nationwide. Our store footprints allow for plenty of flexibility, whether you’re looking at large markets, small towns or something in between.

Who owns EarthWise Pet?

EarthWise Pet was founded in 1977 as a family-owned business, and it remains so today. The parent company is NPM Franchising, which is led by CEO Mike Seitz, the son of one of the original founders of the brand, and President & COO Daniel Webb.

How many locations are there?

EarthWise has over 50 locations nationwide.

How long does it take to open an EarthWise Pet Supply?

Many variables can affect the timeline, including site selection, lease negotiation and funding, but typically, you will open your store within 6 to 12 months from the time you are formally awarded a franchise.

How large is a typical EarthWise store?

Our ideal store size is between 1,600 and 2,200 square feet. Within that footprint is the full retail portion as well as grooming and self-wash services.

Do you offer discounts to veterans?

Yes. We offer veterans who are awarded a first-time franchise a $5,000 rebate off the initial franchisee fee. Subsequent store openings by the same veteran will include a $2,500 rebate.
